Essential Waitrose milk is homogenised to ensure the cream is evenly distributed throughout the milk. We also sell Waitrose Organic Milk and Duchy Originals organic milk which is unhomogenised. Waitrose is the only supermarket to still offer the customer this choice.
Cows milk contains on average 122 mg calcium per 100ml, as well as vitamins A, B (including B6 and folic acid), C, D, E and K. It also contains calcium, phosphorous, potassium, magnesium, zinc and iodine.

Working with our dairy farmers
We firmly believe it is important our farmers receive a fair price that gives them a sustainable return.
Waitrose are consistently at, or very close to, the top of the league table for the price our farmers receive for their milk and this has been the case for many years.
We have built mutual trust and understanding through our long-term relationships and source our milk from an established group of farmers under our pioneering producer group system.
To set a fair price we collaborate closely with our farmers, meeting regularly to share the details of the cost of production.
We pay this fair price because it gives farmers the reassurance and confidence to invest in their businesses. Farmers are the key to a thriving agricultural economy and it is important they receive a sustainable return for the top quality milk they provide.
essential Waitrose milk
All essential Waitrose milk is produced by a group of dedicated farmers, who supply their milk exclusively for us and who understand and share our values. We work closely with our farmers to deliver the highest standards of milk quality and ensure best practice in animal health and welfare. Our farmers also commit to adopting sustainable farming methods that will help safeguard the environment and encourage local wildlife to flourish on their farms.
Waitrose Organic milk
Waitrose only sources its organic milk from carefully selected family farms in Somerset, Dorset & Devon, all lying within an average of 30 miles of Coombe Farm, where our organic milk is processed, which also reduces the carbon footprint.
All of our farmers 'work in balance with nature' to produce organic milk to the best in farming practice for animal welfare, whilst protecting the environment, in return for a fair price for their milk.
essential Waitrose Cream
Unlike other supermarkets all essential Waitrose cream comes from the same group of dedicated farmers who supply our milk. They work exclusively for us and understand and share our values. We work closely with our farmers to deliver the highest standards of cream and ensure best practice in animal health and welfare. Our farmers also commit to adopting sustainable farming methods that will help safeguard the environment and encourage local wildlife to flourish on their farms.
Our own-label yogurts are made by a family-run dairy on the edge of the Mendip Hills in Somerset, which has been supplying us for almost 30 years.
Our yogurts are made with only British milk, from the family’s own farm, and a hand-picked group of other farms in the South West. They’re produced in smaller batches than most commercial yogurts, and the gently blending with the fruit conserves ensure that they are really thick and creamy.
We offer a wide range of flavours, including unusual ones such as Coconut, Butterscotch Toffee, and Turkish Fig. Our Seriously Fruity range contains at least 20% fruit, and wherever possible, we use named varieties of fruit, such as Alphonso mango or Bramley apple, which are chosen for their superior flavour.
Our organic yogurts come from the same dairy, where they're made with organic milk, sugar & specially selected organic fruit.
Meet the farmer
Brian Barnett, one of our milk producers, has been dairy farming in Oxfordshire for over 30 years:
"Waitrose values quality milk, animal welfare and the environment," he says. "It pays a fair price for the higher standards expected, without charging customers extra."
