When the sun shines, there's nothing that gets you into the holiday mood like an alfresco cocktail. These six summer tipples are easy to make at home.
Strawberry & mint stoli vodka lemonade
The legendary smoothness of Stolichnaya vodka lets the fresh flavours of this summery serve do the talking.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add 4 chopped strawberries, 4 mint leaves, 25ml fresh lemon juice,
10-15ml sugar syrup to taste, 50ml Stolichnaya Premium Vodka and 25ml still water. Shake well for 30 seconds. Strain through a tea strainer into a highball glass filled with ice. Garnish with strawberry slices and mint leaves.
Frozen coffee is an inspired pick-me-up on a hot day. This boozy milkshake laced with Kahlúa lifts the convept to new heights.
Blend 25ml Kahlúa, 25ml Absolut Vodka, 25ml Irish cream liqueur and 3 scoops vanilla ice cream with crushed ice in a food processor. Pour into a hurricane glass and garnish with chocolate coffee beans, if desired.
G, T & C
Add a contemporary twist to a classic gin and tonic by serving in stylish glasses and garnishing with cucumber ribbons.
In a large coupette glass, combine 50ml Waitrose London Dry Gin and 100ml tonic water over ice. Garnish with cucumber ribbons (use a vegetable peeler to make these, carefully slicing a cucumber lengthways).
Authentic Cuban mojito
The lovely aromas of Havana Club Añejo 3 Años, the only aged white rum of its kind, make it the hero of a mojito
Mix the juice of 1/2 lime and 2 tsp white sugar in a tall glass. Place 2 mint sprigs in the glass and muddle gently. Fill the glass with ice and pour in 45ml Havana Club Añejo 3 Años, then top up with sparkling water. Garnish with mint leaves.
The famous & ginger
The fruity, spicy notes of this invigorating combination set off the smooth, well-rounded flavours of The Famous Grouse Scotch whisky.
Fill a highball glass with ice. Add 25ml The Famous Grouce whisky and splash a drop of bitters into the glass. Top up with ginger ale, and garnish with a wedge of orange or a spiral of orange peel.
The Patrón perfect paloma
The delicate floral and citrus notes of Patrón Silver Tequila work perfectly in this refreshingly sharp Mexican classic.
Fill a highball or rocks glass with ice. Squeeze over the juice of 1 lime wedge. Add 50ml Patrón Silver Tequila, then gently pour in 160ml San Pellegrino (or 100ml grapefruit juice mixed with 50ml soda water) and a splash of lemonade. Garnish with a lime wedge.
