Houmous

Houmous

A chick pea and tahini (sesame seed paste) paste which is flavoured with garlic and lemon juice. Houmous is a popular Middle Eastern dish, it is a pale brown colour and a smooth, slightly grainy texture, it has a subtle, tangy, nutty flavour. Reduced fat houmous and regular houmous are available.

Uses: Houmous is most often used as a spread - often on warmed pitta bread or toast, it can also be used in sandwiches with salad. It can also be stirred into sauces and soups to add a nutty flavour.

To store: Keep in the fridge and consume by the use before date.
