Tahini

Tahini is a smooth paste made from ground sesame seeds, it is often flavoured with cumin seeds. It is sold in jars and if left for any period of time the tahini separates into two layers - a bottom layer of sesame pulp and a layer of sesame oil on the top. This separation is normal, but before using, stir well to blend the oil back into the pulp.

Uses: Tahini can be used on its own or combined with natural yogurt or cream cheese to make a dip. It is one of the main ingredients in houmous.
