    Bourbon hot toddy

    • Preparation time: 5 minutes
    • Cooking time: 10 minutes
    • Total time: 15 minutes 15 minutes

    Serves: 4

    Ingredients

    1 vanilla pod, split
    4 juniper berries, lightly crushed
    3 cloves
    3 pieces mace
    3 strips lemon peel
    1 cinnamon stick (plus extra to serve)
    2 tbsp orange blossom honey, or to taste
    200ml bourbon

    Method

    1. Fill four heatproof glasses with hot water and set aside. Pour 250ml water into a small saucepan and add all of the remaining ingredients, except the bourbon. Bring to a gentle simmer then leave to steep for 5 minutes. Strain through a fine sieve into a jug.

    2. Drain the glasses and divide the bourbon between them. Top up with the spiced water mixture, add a cinnamon stick and serve.
