Chocolate Flower Pots

These colourful chocolate gifts make an eye-catching treat for small children. They’re so easy to make and needn’t be perfectly shaped to look effective.

Ingredients

200g bar Waitrose Belgium Milk Chocolate, broken into pieces
2 x 100g Green & Black’s White Chocolate, broken into pieces
12 wooden lolly sticks or wooden disposable chopsticks (available from cookshops)
4 x 150g bags Smarties or mini eggs

Method

Put the milk and white chocolate in separate bowls. Melt the milk chocolate, then the white, over a small saucepan of gently simmering water. (Alternatively, use the microwave for melting.)
Cover two baking sheets with baking parchment and place 6 lolly sticks or disposable chopsticks, spaced well apart, on each. Spoon a third of the milk chocolate and a third of the white chocolate into the corners of 2 small, new plastic food bags. Squeeze the milk chocolate right into the corner and cut off the merest tip with scissors, so the chocolate can be piped in a thin line. Pipe petal shapes onto the ends of half the wooden sticks, making sure that the centre of the flower is level with the top of the stick. Pipe more petal outlines over the remaining sticks using white chocolate.
Fill in the petal shapes using a small teaspoon and either the same chocolate or the contrasting chocolate, spreading the chocolate to fill the shapes with the tip of a skewer or spare stick. Use blobs of chocolate or Smarties to decorate the centre of each flower. Leave to set in a cool place for several hours. (To speed up setting, the flowers can be put in the fridge.)
Fill the mugs with Smarties or mini eggs. Peel the paper away from the chocolate flowers and push 3 lollies into each mug. Loosely wrap the mugs in clear Cellophane or gift boxes and tie with ribbon.
