Get your evening off to a great start by greeting your guests with tall glasses of Brazil's most famous cocktail. It is made with a distilled sugar cane spirit cachaça (pronounced car-shas-ar) such as Sagatiba, which, after beer, is the country's most popular drink. Make sure that you serve the cocktails with plenty of crushed ice.
Mixed Citrus Caipirinha
2 large oranges
2 unwaxed lemons
2 unwaxed limes
24 A la perruche brown rough sugar peices
plenty crushed ice
- Wash 2 large oranges in warm water and dry thoroughly. Cut the oranges, 2 unwaxed lemons and 2 unwaxed limes into 8 wedges each. Divide the fruit and 24 A la Perruche Brown Rough Sugar pieces equally between 8 tumblers.
- Using the end of a rolling pin or a wooden spoon, 'muddle' (crush) the ingredients to release the juice. Divide 125ml Sagatiba Cachaça between the glasses and mix well with a cocktail stirrer. Fill with crushed ice to the top of each tumbler and serve immediately.
