A most delicious blackberry and apple crumble. Best made immediately after picking the blackberries and even better if someone gives you windfall apples. The crumble has a good texture by the addition of porrage oats and demerara sugar.

Just so delicious and a reminder of summer walks in the country picking fruit from the hedgerow!
1 pound // 500grammes freshly picked blackberries
1lb//500gr cooking apples
4ounces//125gr demerara sugar to sweeten
crumble mix; 8 oz // 250gr plainflour. or a mix of wholemeal and white plain flour.
4oz // 125gr hard margarine
2oz jumbo porrage oats // 50gr
3oz // 75gr demerara sugar
wash blackberries, put in bottom of large pyrex dish. wash, peel, coe and slice apples into dish with blackberries. scatter over sugar. Put flour in mixing bowl, cut margarine into small pieces. Use fingertips to make a breadcrumb like mixture. Stir in sugar and oats. Put crumble topping onto the fruit. Bake in a pre-heated oven gas mark 6 //400f //200c for about 40minutes.
