Strawberry Baked Alaska


  • 225g strawberries
  • 1 orange
  • 2 medium egg whites
  • 100g caster sugar
  • Waitrose Soft Sponge Flan Case
  • Approx 250ml Waitrose Organic Vanilla Ice cream
  • 2 tbsp flaked almonds


  1. Hull and slice 225g strawberries and pour over juice of 1 orange. Whisk 2 medium egg whites until stiff, then gradually whisk in 100g caster sugar. Spoon fruit and juice over a Waitrose Soft Sponge Flan Case, set on an ovenproof plate or baking sheet.
  2. Top with scoops of Waitrose Organic Vanilla Ice Cream (half a 500ml tub). Swirl the meringue over the top to seal filling. Scatter over 2 tbsp flaked almonds. Bake for 5 minutes in a preheated oven 200°C, gas mark 6, until golden. Serve immediately.
