I have never understood the gastropub concept. That’s not to say that I can’t work out what it means. I appreciate that gastro is short for gastronomy so what it describes is pub gastronomy. But can you really ever get that?

So there I was in Norwich – and no, not by mistake. You underestimate me if you assume I might take a dim view of this city. I’m told it’s an historical town, although apart from a bit of old wall I can’t see much evidence of that.
