On the banks of the Thames, opposite the Dome, this smart Docklands pub offers great views from its terrace. It serves up top-notch food, too. It was a lovely afternoon when we stopped by for a lazy Sunday lunch. I started with some beautiful poached eggs Florentine (£7.50) from the Sunday brunch menu (served from 10.30am till 1pm), while Olly looked to the main menu for his pint o' prawns with mayonnaise (£7). This he followed with a hefty portion of tender, roast sirloin of beef with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and braised cabbage (£14.95). Apparently, this pub is where Lord Nelson would meet Lady Hamilton for their 'secret assignations.' I can only imagine the Sunday lunch wasn't as generous in those days, or all Horatio would have fancied would have been a nice, long lie down.
