Inspired by this year’s Waitrose Christmas TV advert, Coming Home is a charming story about a plucky little robin who sets out on an epic journey home – written by the brilliant Michael Morpurgo and with wonderful illustrations by Kerry Hyndman.
Because Christmas is when many of us spend time enjoying food with our friends and families, this story was created to help reflect upon the broader meaning of home, and particularly the journeys that many face in seeking a place where they are safe, well-fed, and enjoy being with other people.
As home is such an important concept for children of all faiths and cultural backgrounds we put together some free lesson plans as suggestions to help you explore the book Coming Home with your classes.
These lessons are cross-curricular with a focus on guiding children to think about what home means to them and others.
