As the food division of the John Lewis Partnership we participate in donating large sums of money each year to a wide variety of national charities and good causes. However, we have introduced a Community Matters scheme to our branches. This will involve our branches supporting three nominated local charities or community groups per month and £1,000 will be available every month for each shop to divide between the chosen causes.

A token will be given to customers after a transaction and they may choose which local organisation they wish to support by placing their token in the box for the relevant cause. This is an initiative designed to enable branches to support local communities within their trading area and is intended to reflect our difference as a business. We also hope it will mean that our impact in local communities can be measured and our Partners and customers will be involved in the local investment decision-making and recommendation of local groups.

To nominate your organisation please pick up a nomination form from the Welcome Desk at your local branch.

There is a little Waitrose opening in Chester this week and I would like to apply to the Community Matters scheme on behalf of a non profit that I run (<a href="http://centronuclear.org.uk">http://centronuclear.org.uk</a>). Is the scheme still running and would I be eligible to apply?
