Raisins

These are dried grapes, smaller and darker than sultanas but larger and lighter coloured than currants. They have a sweet flavour and are sold separately and with sultanas, currants and mixed peel as mixed dried fruit.

A variety of raisins are available from Waitrose including Waitrose Cape Seedless Raisins, which are grown on vines planted in the fertile soil of South Africa and the Thompson seedless grapes used to produce these raisins are carefully harvested, sundried and cleaned ready for use. Waitrose Organic Raisins produced in America are also available.

Uses: In cakes, puddings and in salads and in savoury rice dishes. They are also a popular and healthy snack for children.

To store: Keep in a dry, cool place, once opened store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
