Stout

With its characteristic rich dark colour, the classic ale, stout, is easily recognisable. It’s a dry dark black drink produced from dark roasted barley and hops. Draught stout tends to be creamier with a smoother finish than the bottled variety. Waitrose sell a range of stout including Mackeson Stout, Murphy's Irish Stout and Guinness.

Uses: Stout is a popular drink but is also widely used in cooking in beef casseroles and pies.

To store: Store in a cool, dark place and consume by the best before date.
