    Chicken and lentil soup

    A wholesome soup high in protein, vegetables and fat busting onions and garlic. A perfect pick me up on a cold winter's day. Freezes well.

    My recipe is:

    • Plenty of fruit or veg
    • Plenty of fruit or veg
    • Meat-free

    Why should your recipe win?
    It's simple to make but very tasty and very healthy

    • Total time: 5 minutes prep + 1 hour cooking

    Serves: 4


    • 2 chicken stock cubes
      2 vegetable stock cubes
      4 or 5 gloves of garlic ( pureed )
      2 or 3 carrots,
      2 or 3 onions
      1 cup red lentils
      2 or 3 pieces of lean smoked bacon
      ground black pepper


    1. Put 2 chicken stock cubes, 2 vegetable stock cubes, 4 or 5 gloves of garlic ( pureed ), 2 or 3 carrots, 2 or 3 onions, 1 cup red lentils, 2 or 3 pieces of lean smoked bacon ( chopped into small bits ), lots of ground black pepper and enough water to cover into a pan, bring to the boil and simmer for about an hour until the carrots are cooked and the lentils have fallen. Better still with bits of left over chicken.
