There is something magical about Baked Alaska. Break through the crisp shell of marshmallow-like meringue straight from the oven, then tuck into still-cold ice cream.
Prepare ahead to the end of step 1, and make the meringue up to an hour ahead. Assemble and cook at the last minute.
Serve with Warre’s Otima 10-Year-Old Tawny Port
