    Creamy lentil dhal

    • Total time: 45 minutes 45 minutes

    Serves: Serves 4 as a starter


    • 1 Onion, finely chopped
    • Ghee
    • 2 tsp Curry powder
    • 2 Chopped tomatoes
    • 1 Chopped green chilli
    • 200g Red lentils
    • 4 tbsp Single cream


    1. In a large pan, fry a finely chopped onion in a little ghee until golden. Add 2 tsp each curry powder, crushed garlic and grated ginger, along with 2 chopped tomatoes and 1 chopped green chilli.
    2. Stir in 200g red lentils, cover with water and simmer over a medium heat for 35–40 minutes. Season to taste. Stir in 4 tbsp single cream and a little chopped coriander.
    3. Serve with rice or flatbreads.
