    Crunchy Christmas Tree

A seasonal variation on this ever-popular children's recipe.

    • Christmas

    • 4 x 200g bars Waitrose Milk Belgian Chocolate
    • 170g Kellogg's Rice Krispies
    • 1 large Edlers Continental Sponge Flan Case
    • 200g tub Waitrose Multi Coloured Provençal Cherries
    • Half x 200g bar Waitrose White Belgian Chocolate

    1. Day one
    2. Break up 600g of the milk chocolate into a large heatproof bowl. Place over a pan of simmering water for about 5 minutes or until the chocolate has melted. Stir in the Rice Krispies and mix until well coated.
    3. Line 3 large trays with greaseproof paper. Using 2 teaspoons, drop rough balls of the mixture, the size of large walnuts, onto the paper until the mixture is used up (it makes around 85 balls). Set aside in a cool place to harden for at least 2 hours or, preferably, overnight.
    4. Day two
    5. In a small heatproof bowl, melt the remaining 200g milk chocolate as before. Brush the base of each ball across the melted chocolate and place them inside the flan case until it is covered with crispy clusters. Continue with the remaining balls, building into a cone shape.
    6. Decorate the 'tree' with 'baubles' by tucking the cherries in between the clusters. Using a potato peeler, grate the white chocolate into curls and scatter 'snow' over the top. Keep in a cool place. Eat within 2-3 days.
