Fish Balls

A simple yet tasty dish

  • 1. 1/2 Kg. fish, boiled with a little salt and vinegar and mashed. 2. 2 dsp. oil 3. 1/2 cup finely chopped onions. 3. 1/2 finely chopped onions, 1 dsp. small, thin slices green chillies, 1 tsp. finely chopped ginger. 4. 1/4 tsp. coarsely powered pepper. A little vinegar (optional) 5. 1 cup boiled, mashed potato 6. Salt - to taste 7. 1/2 tsp. pepper powder 8. 2 egg yolks 9. 1 tsp. butter (optional) 10. Egg-whites, as required 11. Bread crumbs, as required. 12. Refined groundnut oil, for frying


  1. Heat oil and saute onions, chillies and ginger. When it is seasoned, add coarsely powered pepper. Next stir in the prepared fish and saute till it is well seasoned. If necessary, add a little vinegar and salt to taste.
  2. Add mashed potato, salt, pepper and egg yolks and mix well. Add butter to bind the balls and make them soft. Shape into small balls. dip each ball into the beaten egg-white and then coat it with bread crumbs. Deep fry in hot refined oil. Drain the oil and serve hot
