This variation on flapjacks really can't go wrong... and it doesnt matter if you don't measure stuff out, you just improvise to make a recipe that suits you.

  • Total time: about 30 mins

  • Knob/Spoonful of butter/marg.

2 tbsp. each of golden syrup and honey (if you dont have both, just use 4tbsp of the one you do have)

    4 desert spoons sugar

Porridge oats (use the smallest ones u can get if you like them chewy. sometimes i even put ready brek in there!)

a litle bit of butter to grease the tin.

  1. Preheat the oven to about 180 - 200 c (i use an aga... top oven) Lightly grease a deep - ish tin. (doesn't matter what size, because you can just leave a gap if it doesnt fill) melt the butter in a medium-large saucepan
  2. Add the golden syrup and honey. (tip - if your golden syrup is in a tin, put it in the preheating oven for ten minutes, and it will easily slip out of the tin, without making too much of a mess)
  3. Add the sugar. Stir it all together!
  4. Add as many oats as you think is necessary - there shouldn't be much excess liquid. Stir them in, and pour into the tin. Press down and shape into an even square/rectangle.
  5. Put in the middle of the oven and cook until golden brown. When they are out, let them cool for two or three minutes then cut them apart and put them on a cooling rack.
  6. EAT!
