gâteau au chocolat

This cake actually is a family cake : it means my grand-mother taught th recipe to my mother,who taught it to me and last I showed the recipe of this cake to my eldest daughter, who, I hope will do the same with her daughter or son, or daughter in law !!!

  • Total time: 30 minutes

  • 250 g of Good quality of black chocolate, 250 gr butter, 250 gr caster sugar, 180 gr flour, 8 eggs.


  1. Melt the chocolate in a pan (add water if it is too thick)
  2. Add the butter which is cut in small pieces, stir ;
  3. Stop the gas and transfer the mixture into a big bowl. Add the sugar, break the eggs into two, put the yellow part into the big bowl and keep the white in a small bowl Add the sugar
  4. Put the white in a mixer so that they are very firm Add them to the previous chocolate mixture Butter a dish and put into the oven for 20 minutes (10 mn 220°, 10 mn 200°.
  5. You can make an icing if you wish but it is already a very rich cake. You can serve wuith vanilla ice-cream or crème anglaise (another recipe !)
