    Guernsey Gache

    • Cooking time: 40 minutes to 45 minutes

    • 500g essential Waitrose plain flour
    • pinch of salt
    • 7g sachet Alinson Yeast Easy Bake
    • 225g essential Waitrose unsalted butter
    • 25g muscavado sugar
    • 50g Waitrose Cook’s Ingredients Italian Mixed Peel
    • 300g essential Waitrose sultanas
    • 150ml Guernsey full cream milk, warmed


    1. Preheat oven to 200°C, gas mark 6. Grease and base line a 1 kg loaf tin.
    2. Sift flour and salt into a large bowl, stir in yeast.
    3. Rub in butter to resemble breadcrumbs and stir in sugar, peel and sultanas. Stir in the milk and knead to form a dough. Shape into a loaf shape and place in tin. Rest for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
    4. Bake for 40-45 minutes till golden.
