    Hot Date Fritters

    • 24 medjool dates
    • 75g marzipan
    • 150g flour
    • 1 tsp baking powder
    • 1 medium egg
    • 120ml milk
    • 1 tbsp sugar
    • Vegetable oil, for frying
    • Icing sugar


    1. Destone 24 medjool dates and stuff each with a chunk of marzipan (you'll need about 75g marzipan). Make a batter by whisking together 150g plain flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1 medium egg, 120ml milk and 1 tbsp sugar. Preheat vegetable oil in a deep saucepan or fryer to 180°C.
    2. Dip the dates in the batter, deep-fry until golden, drain on kitchen paper, and dust with icing sugar once cool. Serve with Greek coffee.
