Italian Meatballs

This receipe has been enjoyed by my three children when they were younger. Especially my younger daughter Eleanor. It was a hit with them and it does not take long to make

  • Total time: cooking time 30 minutes

Serves: 4


  • 350g sausagemeat
    2tbs oil
    350g onion
    1clove garlic
    4 sticks celery
    1 green pepper
    3tbs tomato pureee
    300 ml cider
    100g mushrooms
    2tsps sugar
    salt & pepper
    250 g noodles
    100g cheese (cheddar)


  1. Divide sausagement into small pieces and roll into 24 small balls on a lightly floured surface. Heat oil in a large pan and add meat balls, onion, garlic and fry until brown. Add celery, pepper, tomato puree, cider and mushrooms and bring to the boil. Add sugar and seasoning and simmer for 20mins. Cook noodles as directed on packet, drain well and stir into the sauce with the cheese. Taste and adjust the seasoning.
