    Kiwi Cooler

In his new book, Super Cool (Mitchell Beazley; £10.99), Michael van Straten uses ice cream as a base for a variety of tasty smoothies. "Real dairy ice cream is a healthy occasional treat, providing calcium and potassium," he writes.

    Serves: 1 - 2

    Ingredients

    • 2 kiwi fruits
    • 1/5 of a 650ml vanilla ice cream brick

    Method

    1. This idea is a great alternative to a milkshake: peel and quarter 2 kiwi fruits and place in a blender with 1/5 of a 650ml vanilla ice cream brick, cut into cubes.
    2. Blend until smooth and serve in tall glasses.
