    Marzipan Munchies

Easy and fun to make, these are also ideal edible presents.

    • Christmas
    • Preparation time: 20 minutes
    • Cooking time: 5 minutes
    • Total time: 25 minutes 25 minutes

Makes: around 8 stars and 4 plaits

    Ingredients

    • Icing sugar, for dusting
    • 500g pack Waitrose Golden Marzipan
    • 125g Waitrose White Marzipan
    • 1 medium egg, beaten
    • Supercook Glacé Angelica
    • Supercook Silver Balls
    • Sugar baubles

    Method

    1. To make the stars: Preheat the grill to its highest setting. Lightly dust the preparation surface with icing sugar. Roll out two-thirds of the golden marzipan to 1cm thickness. Using a medium-sized star cutter, cut out as many stars as you can and place on a non-stick baking tray.
    2. Roll out the white marzipan until 1cm thick. Using a smaller star or heart-shaped cutter, cut out a star or heart shape for each larger star. Brush the large stars with beaten egg and place a white marzipan shape on each star. Brush again with beaten egg.
    3. To make the plaits Roll the remaining golden marzipan into 3 long, thin sausages and plait together. Curl the plaits around to form mini Christmas wreaths and place on a non-stick baking tray. Brush with beaten egg.
    4. Place the trays under the grill for 20-30 seconds until golden. Watch out - this happens quickly!
    5. While still hot, remove the munchies from the baking tray and place on baking parchment. Allow to cool, then decorate with angelica, balls and baubles.
