Mulled Wine with Cointreau

Ingredients

1 orange, thickly sliced

1 lemon, thickly sliced

20 cloves

750ml bottle red wine such as Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot

3 cinnamon sticks

4 tbsp soft brown sugar

3 tbsp Cointreau
Method
-
Stud the orange and lemon slices with the cloves and place in a saucepan with all the other ingredients. Heat over a very low heat for 15 minutes. Don't boil or you will lose all the alcohol. Take off the heat and set aside for 30 minutes to infuse. Reheat gently then ladle the wine into heatproof glasses.
