    Pork steaks with apple and basil sauce

    Quick, simple supper. Lovely mix of flavours.

    • Preparation time: 5 minutes
    • Cooking time: 25 minutes
    • Total time: 30 minutes 30 minutes

    Serves: 2


    • 2 essential Waitrose British Pork Loin Steaks
    • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
    • 1 eating apple, peeled, cored and sliced
    • ¼ x 25g pack fresh basil
    • ¼ tsp chilli flakes
    • 1 tsp lemon juice
    • 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil


    1. Preheat the grill to medium and cook the steaks for 22–24 minutes turning once, until cooked through. Transfer to a warm serving dish, drizzle with the balsamic vinegar and leave to rest for 5 minutes.
    2. Meanwhile, make the sauce: place the remaining ingredients in a food processor and pulse until finely chopped. Check seasoning. Serve with the pork, mashed potato and steamed Tenderstem broccoli.
