    Sanibat Belachan

    Ingredients

    • 1 teaspoon belachan (fermented prawn paste, available from Oriental supermarkets)
    • 5 fresh chillies, deseeded and chopped
    • Juice of 3 limes
    • Sugar

    Method

    1. Dry-fry the belachan until it releases its aroma. Allow to cool.
    2. Pound with the chillies in a mortar and pestle (or in a blender). Add the lime juice to make a paste.
    3. Add sugar to taste.
