    Sesame Stir-Fry of Winter Cabbage and Leeks

    This quick recipe uses seasonal vegetables that are Scottish staples and adds an Oriental piquancy with the sesame oil and seeds.

    • Total time: 25 minutes 25 minutes

    Ingredients

    • 50g sesame seeds
    • 4 medium leeks
    • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
    • 400g Savoy cabbage, finely sliced
    • 2 tbsp Waitrose Toasted Sesame Oil

    Method

    1. Place the sesame seeds in a non-stick frying pan and cook over a medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring until they just start to turn golden. Remove from the heat and set aside.
    2. Slice the leeks into 7cm long matchsticks, wash thoroughly and drain well.
    3. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large pan, then add the cabbage and leeks and stir-fry for 6-7 minutes until tender.
    4. Add the sesame oil, toasted sesame seeds and season, then toss together well and serve immediately with salmon.

    Cook's tips

    When toasting the sesame seeds, don't leave them unattended as they start to colour very quickly.
