    Sheila's Savoury Oat Slices

    • Vegetarian
    • Preparation time: 10 minutes
    • Cooking time: 30 minutes plus cooling
    • Total time: 40 minutes 40 minutes

    Makes: 9

    Ingredients

    • 150g porridge oats
    • 25g sunflower seeds
    • 25g sesame seeds
    • 100g grated Cheddar
    • ½ tsp English mustard powder
    • Pinch cayenne pepper
    • 2 tbsp milk
    • 1 egg
    • 75g butter, melted, plus extra for greasing

    Method

    1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/gas 4 and butter a 20cm square tin.
    2. Combine the oats, seeds, cheese, mustard and cayenne in a bowl. Add the milk and egg to the melted butter and beat. Add to the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Transfer to the tin and smooth out. Bake for 30 minutes, cut into 9 squares and leave to cool in the tin.
