    Spicy Mixed Nuts

These spicy nuts are the perfect accompaniment to Christmas pre-dinner drinks. We've used a mixture of nuts, but you can change this to suit your taste. For a gift, spoon the nuts into a small bowl and wrap so they are ready to serve. They will last at least a week in an airtight container - that's if temptation doesn't get the better of you!

    • Christmas
    • Preparation time: 10 minutes
    • Cooking time: 20 minutes, plus cooling
    • Total time: 30 minutes, plus cooling 30 minutes

    Makes: 14 x 100g bags

    Ingredients

    • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
    • 2 tsp Schwartz Black & Red Pepper
    • 2 tsp garam masala
    • 2 tsp ground ginger
    • 1 tsp crushed chillies
    • 2 x 100g packs Waitrose Brazil Nut Kernels
    • 4 x 150g packs Waitrose Roasted Marcona Almonds
    • 4 x 100g packs Waitrose Macadamia Nuts
    • 2 x 100g packs Waitrose Pecan Nuts
    • 2 tsp Halen Môn Pure White Sea Salt, crushed

    Method

    1. Preheat the oven to 180°C, gas mark 4. Heat the oil in a large frying pan over a low heat. Mix the spices together, add to the pan and stir with a wooden spoon for 1-2 minutes to release their flavours.
    2. Remove from the heat, add the nuts and stir until well coated with the spice mixture.
    3. Tip the nuts onto a baking tray in a single layer and roast for 15 minutes, or until beginning to brown.
    4. Sprinkle with sea salt, then transfer to kitchen paper and allow to cool completely.
