    Tuna puttanesca with herbed spaghetti

    Use fresh or frozen tuna steaks in this italian style recipe

    • Preparation time: 5 minutes
    • Cooking time: 15 minutes
    • Total time: 20 minutes 20 minutes

    Serves: 4


    • 300g spaghetti
    • puttanesca mix, plus 1 ybsp oil from the jar
    • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
    • ½ x 395g cans cherry tomatoes
    • ½ tsp caster sugar
    • yellowfin tuna steaks, defrosted
    • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
    • 20g flat-leaf parsley, roughly chopped
    • 1 essential Waitrose lemon, cut into wedges


    1. Cook the pasta according to the instructions on the packet.
    2. Meanwhile, put a frying pan on a medium heat, then add the puttanesca mix and the oil from the jar. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute, then tip in the tomatoes and sugar. Bring to the boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
    3. Season the tuna on both sides, then nestle the steaks into the sauce. Cover the pan and simmer gently for 3–4 minutes on each side. The tuna should be just cooked in the middle.
    4. Drain the pasta, then toss with the oil, half the parsley, some pepper and a squeeze of lemon from one of the wedges. When the fish is done, scatter over the rest of the parsley; serve with the pasta and lemon wedges.
