    Vanilla Milkshake

    • Preparation time: 10 minutes, plus cooling
    • Total time: 10 minutes, plus cooling 10 minutes

    Serves: 2 - 4

    Ingredients

    • 1 vanilla pod or ½-1 tsp vanilla extract, to taste
    • 500ml milk
    • 200g good quality vanilla ice cream

    Method

    1. If using a vanilla pod, cut it in half lengthways and scrape out the seeds. Put the vanilla seeds and pod, or vanilla extract, into 100ml of the milk in a small pan. Bring to the boil and simmer gently for 3-4 minutes, then remove from the heat and leave to cool.
    2. Remove the vanilla pod, if using. Blend the vanilla milk in a processor with the rest of the milk and the ice cream. Serve immediately in tall glasses with straws.
