Spiced almond and cashew nut butter
Silvana Franco shows you how to make your own nut butter - it's easier than you might think and you can make it just how you like it.
Recipe - Serves: 4
150g whole almonds, skin on
100g whole cashew nuts
½ tsp dried chilli flakes
¼ tsp ground cinnamon
1 Tip the nuts out onto two separate baking sheets. Roast 190c/gas mark 5 for 5 – 10 minutes until toasted – the cashews will need slightly less time than the almonds so take them out of the oven when done.
2 Leave both to cool on the trays for 5 minutes.
3 While still warm, tip the nuts into a food processor and whizz until finely chopped. Add the chillies, cinnamon and a little salt and continue to whizz until the mixture forms a fairly smooth nut butter.
