Marnie's Mary Pickford

"The strawberry isn't a traditional ingredient, but I think it's what makes this cocktail," says Marnie, of Havana band Musica Floridita. "It gets crushed by the ice in the shaker so you end up with tiny fragments floating in your drink, adding a subtle flavour."

Ingredients

60ml pineapple juice
60ml white rum such as Metusalem
15ml grenadine
15ml maraschino liqueur
1 strawberry
A few ice cubes
½ slice pineapple, to garnish   - Waitrose Melons and Pineapples - BUY ANY 2 SAVE £1

Method

  1. Put the pineapple juice, rum, grenadine, maraschino and strawberry into a cocktail shaker with the ice. Shake vigorously until the drink is well chilled, then strain into a wine glass. Garnish with the pineapple and serve.
  2. Maraschino is a liqueur made from the flesh and stones of marasca cherries. You can order it by mail from tanners-wines.co.uk.
