Sesame, Chilli and Honey-Drizzled Broccoli

Lightly cooked tenderstem broccoli is delicious drizzled with this sweet dressing - it really soaks into the florets so that each mouthful is well flavoured and juicy. Adapt the amount of chilli you add depending on how hot you want the dish.

Preparation time : 15 minutes
Cooking time : 10 minutes
Total time : 25 minutes

Serves: 8

Ingredients

500g tenderstem broccoli
4 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp clear honey
1 tbsp dark soy sauce
1 large red chilli, deseeded and finely chopped
2 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted

Method

  1. Add the broccoli to a large pan of boiling water and cook for 4-5 minutes until tender. Be careful not to overcook.
  2. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix together the oil, honey, soy sauce and chilli and season.
  3. Drain the broccoli and place on a serving platter. Pour the dressing over while the broccoli is still warm, then finish with a sprinkling of sesame seeds.

Cook's tips

Prepare the broccoli just before you are ready to serve. Have the dressing ready and a pan of water on the hob brought up to boil. Dress the broccoli just before serving, as it will discolour quickly if you dress it too far ahead.

Variation

Use standard broccoli as an alternative.
Try a pinch of dried chilli flakes instead of the fresh chilli.
