- Cinnamon Date CakeIngredients125g Soft Margarine125g Soft Light Brown Sugar1 Egg, beaten225g Self-Raising Flour, sieved1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon1/4 tsp Grated Nutmeg75ml Milk125g Whitworths Dates, choppedHow to make1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark 4.2. Grease and line an 18cm (7") round cake tin.3. Cream the margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually add the beaten egg. Fold in the sieved flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and finally the milk and dates. Mix thoroughly.4. Turn into the prepared tin and bake for 1-1 1/4 hours.5. Allow to cool slightly before removing from the tin.Why not try... dates eaten straight from the bag or chopped and sprinkled into porridge. Use generously to make a delicious sticky toffee pudding.Warning: Although every care has been taken to remove date stones, some may remain.
Store in a cool, dry place. Once opened, reseal, refrigerate and consume within two weeks.
