- Prune&Apple Nut CrumbleIngredients225g Whitworths Stoned Prunes250g Cooking Apples (peeled, cored and chopped)50g Granulated Sugar175g Plain Flour75g Butter75g Demerara Sugar50g Roasted and Chopped HazelnutsHow to make1. Preheat oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas Mark 6.2. Place prunes, apples and granulated sugar in a pan with just enough water to cover. Boil and then simmer for approximately 15-20 minutes until tender.3. Meanwhile, rub butter into the flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the demerara sugar and hazelnuts.4. Turn prune and apple mixture into an ovenproof dish then crumble mixture on top. Place on the middle shelf of the oven for 25-30 minutes.Why not try... prunes chopped and sprinkled onto cereal or pureed and mixed into chocolate cake mixes.Warning: Although every care has been taken to remove prune stones, some may remain.
Store in a cool, dry place. Once opened, reseal, refrigerate and consume within two weeks.
