Wine of Italy. White Italian Wine. A high quality, sweet, fortified wine made from (white) Grillo, Cataratto and Inzolia grapes grown in western Sicily. Marsala is a DOC wine with heritage dating back to the 18th century. Produced in a number of styles, this sweet ('dolce') wine, is aged in wooden casks for a minimum of two years. Widely used as an ingredient in cooking sweet and savoury dishes. This is renowned as a classic dessert wine. It can also be drunk as an aperitif and is an excellent 'partner' to hard cheeses, nuts and dried fruit.
