What Peroxyl is used for: Peroxyl is a medicated mouthwash used to relieved minor mouth and gum irritations by killing germs and/or preventing them from spreading and causing infection. When Peroxyl®comes into contact with mouth tissue, oxygen is released in a bubbling action providing mechanical cleansing to flush out mouth debris and help in the relief of oral irritations. What Peroxyl®looks like and contains Peroxyl®is a clear aqua-blue liquid, available in 300 ml bottles.
The Active Substance is Hydrogen Peroxide 1.5% w/v, The other ingredients are: Sorbitol 70% w/w (Non-Crystallising), Ethanol 96% v/v, Poloxamer 338, Polysorbate 20, Methyl Salicylate, Levo-Menthol, Sodium Saccharin, Brilliant Blue FCF (E133) and Purified Water
- Directions for use: Always use Peroxyl®exactly as your dentist or pharmacist has told you. You should check with your dentist or pharmacist if you are not sure. You should not use Peroxyl®at high doses or for a long time. The duration of the treatment should not exceed 7 days. Adults and children over 12 years: rinse with 10 ml (one capful, 10 ml line within cap) of Peroxyl®for 1 minute, then spit out. Use 3 times daily, after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by your dentist or pharmacist. Children age 6-12 years: As above but under the supervision of an adult. Possible side effects: Like all medicines, Peroxyl®can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them, these may include: minor irritation and swelling of the mouth, injury to the gums, black stain on the tongue and a feeling that your tongue is hairy. You are more likely to experience these side effects if you use Peroxyl®for a long time or at high doses. These side effects should disappear when you stop using Peroxyl®. If you experience any untoward problems please tell your dentist or pharmacist. Before you use Peroxyl: Do not use Peroxyl®if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to hydrogen peroxide or any of the other ingredients of Peroxyl®. You should speak to your dentist or doctor if you have a month irritation that persists beyond 7 days of treatment or is severe, if you have irritation due to the wearing of braces and/or dentures, if you develop swelling in the mouth or develop a fever. Keep out of the reach and sight of children. Special warnings: Do not use in children under the age of 6 years. Do Not Swallow. Avoid contact with eyes. Pregnancy/Breast-Feeding: Consult your doctor or dentist before use. Peroxyl®contains levo-menthol, which if accidentally ingested in excessive amounts may cause fits (particularly in children or infants). If you, or anybody else using Peroxyl®experience fits, seek medical help, always take this container with you.
How to Store Peroxyl®: Do not store above 25°C, do not use Peroxyl®after the expiry date which refers to the last day of that month or if you notice any signs of deterioration.
