Graham's 20 Year Old Tawny Port
ESTABLISHED 1820. This wood-matured TAWNY PORT was mellowed in seasoned oak casks at our lodge, built on the Estuary of the Douro River in 1890. 20% vol. Graham's is owned by the Symington family, Port producers for over 100 years and through 4 generations, and whose ancestor made one of the first shipments of Port in 1652, more than three centuries ago. Seven members of the family manage all aspects of the winemaking from the vineyards to bottling. BOTTLED IN 2007. Tasting Notes: Graham's 20 YO represents superlative quality. Its principal attributes and great complexity and harmony. With an amber, golden tawny colour, denoting considerable age, Graham's 20YO has an excellent bouquet, with a characteristic 'nutty' character (almonds) and delicious mature fruit with hints of orange peel, exquisitely mellowed by careful ageing. Rich, sweet and smooth on the palate, it is perfectly balanced, with a long and lingering finish. This is an excellent alternative to Vintage Port at less formal occasions and will keep for some weeks after opening. Awarded: Silver Medal, 2007 IWC. Silver Medal, 2007 IWSC.
