British spag bol

2 tbsp essential Waitrose olive oil

500g essential Waitrose British pork mince

2 onions, roughly chopped

2 carrots, sliced into rounds

1 garlic clove, crushed

250g essential Waitrose mushrooms, sliced

150ml red wine

227g can essential Waitrose plum tomatoes, chopped

1 tsp dried oregano

375g essential Waitrose spaghetti

handful basil, leaves torn


  1. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large pan on a medium heat; brown the mince until golden, then remove it and set aside. Add 1 tbsp oil to the pan and fry the onions and carrots for 8 minutes until soft.
  2. Turn up the heat, add the garlic and mushrooms and cook for 2 minutes. Return the pork to the pan and pour in the wine, reducing until almost all the liquid has gone. Turn down the heat, add the canned tomatoes and oregano and simmer for 20 minutes.
  3. When the sauce is almost ready, cook the pasta according to packet instructions. Season the sauce, stir in the basil and serve with the spaghetti.
