French onion soup

1 tbsp oil
1kg pack essential Waitrose Onions, sliced
100ml white wine
2 tbsp plain flour
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 litre beef stock
5-6 slices frozen essential Waitrose Garlic Baguette
100g Waitrose Grated Swiss Gruyère cheese


1. Preheat the oven to 200°C, gas mark 6. Heat the oil in a large saucepan and fry the onions for 10 minutes until golden.

2. Add the wine and then stir in the plain flour. Cook for 1 minute. Gradually blend in the Worcestershire sauce and beef stock, bring to the boil and transfer to a large casserole dish.

3. Top with garlic baguette slices and sprinkle over the cheese. Bake for 10-15 minutes until golden.
