give a little love
Right now, there are families in our community who need help more than ever.
That's why Waitrose and John Lewis are working together to donate essential food, goods, support and money to those in our community hit hardest by the pandemic.
We couldn’t do this without our charity partners FareShare and Home-Start.
Or you, our customers.
Thank you!
FROM OUR FARMS TO FAMILIES IN NEED
We’re working with our farmers to redirect a total of five million apples, sweet baby sprouts, carrots and mushrooms to help create over a million meals for families in need.
We’re proud of our reputation for working closely with our farmers and suppliers to provide deliciously fresh, high-quality produce.
Now, we’re using these long-standing relationships to bring food from farm to family. More specifically, those families who need it most.
We’re asking our farmers to donate any surplus fresh food, making sure nothing that can be eaten is left behind. In total, five million apples, sweet baby sprouts, crooked carrots and mushrooms will be redirected to help create over a million meals for families in need across the UK.
We’ll also support the charity FareShare by offering our delivery vehicles to drop off donations.
“This is a great initiative. You’re seeing people who are really in need getting healthy, nutritious food. A lot of care and attention has gone into growing it, and to see it getting used as food is very satisfying to us.”
William Burgess, farmer, Produce World
GIVE A LITTLE
LOCAL LOVE
For every Waitrose and John Lewis store nationwide, we’ve given £3000 to support the needs of their communities. We’ll work with Home-Start to provide food, heating, clothing, technology, data and mental-health volunteers. Meanwhile, FareShare will ensure struggling families have access to food.
GIVE A LITTLE
WARMTH
John Lewis & Partners is donating almost 5,000 items of clothing from its childrenswear, womenswear and menswear ranges to keep families in need warm and comfortable during the third and coldest lockdown. The clothing will be distributed to 10 communities that have been most affected by the pandemic.
GIVE A LITTLE
LOVE FOR THE NHS
We’re working in partnership with the British Medical Association to provide 500 care packages to doctors and nurses across 186 hospital trusts. Brimming with essentials and treats to keep them refuelled and refreshed, the packages show our appreciation for our frontline NHS heroes during the pandemic.
OUR CHARITY PARTNERS
FareShare redistributes surplus food from the food industry to charities and community groups across the UK – creating almost a million meals every week for vulnerable people.
Home-Start provides trained volunteers to support families with young children through challenging times – because childhood can’t wait.
