Red French Wine
Dating all the way back to the 15th Century, Ch. Balestard la Tonnelle found the inspiration for its name from a member of the clergy, Canon Balestard. The historic tonnelle (tower) is located right in the middle of the vines, and was originally an observation tower. A Merlot dominated Claret, exhibiting smooth red and black fruit flavours, with notes of cedar, cigar box and truffle. The tannins are fine-grained and polished. Showing real pedigree, this is a rich and complex wine, with an impressive concentration and depth. Drinking beautifully now, this well-respected and prestigious St. Emillion Grand Cru Classéwill keep until 2020.
