    Preparation and Usage

    Rajma Spiced Red Kidney Beans Ingredients 225g Natco red kidney beans; 500ml water; 2 tbsp Natco butter ghee; 1/2 tsp Natco mustard seeds; 1 tsp Natco cumin seeds; 2 garlic cloves crushed; 1 tsp Natco chilli powder; 1/2 tsp Natco turmeric powder; 3 tomatoes, chopped; 2 1/2 cm ginger, chopped; 2 tsp salt; 1 tsp Natco ground coriander. Method Cook the beans as per the cooking instructions above. Heat ghee in a small frying pan, add the mustard and cumin seeds and fry for 1 min. Stir in the garlic, ginger, chilli, turmeric, coriander and tomatoes and cook for a further 1 min. Add to the pan of beans with the water and salt and stir well. Bring to the boil and simmer for 10 mins. Serve garnished with fried onions.

    Soak bean in water for 12hrs or overnight. Rinse thoroughly and drain. Cover with fresh water and boil rapidly for 15 mins, removing any foam with a spoon. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 50 mins or until tender.Caution: Do not eat raw.Never cook beans in a slow cooker unless pre-soaked for 12hrs and boiled for 15 mins.
