Statement in response to 'Animals Farmed' Guardian article from 29 May 2018
We do not use feedlots and never would do.
The standards at the farm that the Guardian refers to are exemplary - the farm is award-winning, is run under a bespoke environmental management plan with Natural England and is a showcase for local schools.
Animal welfare is of the highest importance to us - our team regularly visits the farm. All our livestock has the freedom to show natural behaviours and therefore all our beef cattle are grazed on grass.
All the cattle on this farm graze the marshes during the summer season then during the winter months, when the grass dies back and the wintry weather sets in, the cattle are brought back into the yard or barn and fed a forage based diet based on best animal welfare practice.
