    Pak Choi Stir-Fry with Sesame Noodles1

    An orange and sesame dressing adds to the oriental flavour of this pak choi stir-fry, finished with ready-cooked egg noodles from the chilled cabinet. Serve this dish to celebrate Chinese New Year on 12 February.

    • Total time: 28 minutes 30 minutes


    • 225g ready-cooked egg noodles
    • 3 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted
    • 200g pak choi, cut lengthwise into quarters
    • 2.5cm piece root ginger, peeled and grated
    • 1 clove garlic, crushed
    • 1 tsp Tabasco sauce
    • 2 tbsp sunflower oil
    • ½ bunch salad onions, roughly chopped
    • 1 large carrot, peeled, washed and cut into thin strips
    • 1 tsp clear honey
    • Juice of 1 large orange
    • 3 tbsp dark soy sauce


    1. In a small bowl, mix together the honey, orange juice, soy sauce and Tabasco and set aside.
    2. Heat the oil in a wok or large frying pan. Add the salad onions and carrot and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes. Add the pak choi, ginger and garlic and stir-fry for a further 2-3 minutes.
    3. Add the ready-cooked egg noodles to the wok and pour in the spicy sauce mix. Toss everything together and cook for a further 2-3 minutes, or until piping hot. Scatter with the toasted sesame seeds and serve at once.

    Cook's tips

    To toast sesame seeds, heat a heavy-based frying pan until hot, add the sesame seeds and stir over a high heat until evenly browned.
